Career Karma: Is Your Difficult Boss a Soul Contract in Disguise?

Career Karma: Is Your Difficult Boss a Soul Contract in Disguise?

Are you stuck in a toxic job? Your difficult boss may actually be part of a karmic soul contract at work. Sometimes, the people who trigger us the most are those we’ve known in past lives. In this article, you’ll discover how to identify, understand, and resolve these powerful spiritual dynamics in the workplace.

Why do we have past life contracts?

Many of us who believe in past life recognise that we frequently reincarnate in groups.  We visit different time periods on earth with the same souls over and over again.

There are a few main types of past life connection:

Companion soulmate.  This is a characterised by a feeling of comfort and effortlessness.  You will meet a companion to work through compatible karmic issues, in harmony with one another.  It could be a friend, colleague or family member and you may meet in many lifetimes!.  The key is the energy is supportive and non complicated.

A romantic soulmate.  This kind of energy is what we seek in relationships.  At times we will reunite with partners from previous lives.  Sometimes we will recognise a soulmate who was a companion in a previous life, but this time you choose to be lovers.

A soul contract.  A soul contract is when we have unresolved business with another soul.  This means you have met in a past life before, and that something has been left incomplete.  It could be that one of you has wronged or hurt the other. Or that you have been separated prematurely somehow.

The Difference Between a Karmic Mate and a Soulmate

What Is a Karmic Soul Contract at Work?

When you have unresolved issues with somebody from a past life you will often agree to meet and rebalance this or reunite.  The kinds of unresolved issues could be;

An underhand or dishonest act from one party to another, in business, friendship or love.

An unkept promise where one of you made a vow (marriage or otherwise) and went against this.

Disagreements and disputes in politics, war or personal disputes. Sometimes, where an act of violence has been done from one to another.

Unfulfilled love, where true love was present but was not allowed to play out.  Through reasons of choice, external pressures or even death.

How to Recognize a Past Life Connection in the Workplace

Usually when we meet people that have agreed to connect with in this life, it is obvious.  The first meeting may feel powerful and memorable, for better or for worse.

Sometimes the feeling of familiarity creeps up on us.  We notice an expression in the eyes, or a timbre in the voice.  It could be a sudden flash of energy which feels familiar.

It may be that we’ve known somebody for a number of years but have only just reached a level of development.  Our lives are set out in steps of spiritual learning and growth.  Recognition of a connection may not occur until we have reached a point of enlightenment.

The key is to trust in your intuition. If you feel there is a connection, there is.  Do be willing to ‘let go’ though also.  All connections are unique and some are meant to be fleeting.

As the saying goes, “for a reason” “a season” or “a lifetime”.

Why would you be connected to your boss?

A work contract can be a very powerful way to work through karma.  It puts us in a position where we cannot walk away from the person, at least not easily.

It’s also a great way to work through the ego.  It’s common for lessons to centre around the ego, as this is something that we all have to balance.

A boss is in a position where they may be entitled to patronise you, or ask you do things you wouldn’t usually.  Your boss may have different ethics or different personality styles.

It’s very tricky to work with a boss who triggers you, or doesn’t respect your needs.

To note – even if this isn’t a karmic contract, there may still be a potential to learn from a difficult boss.  Asking yourself what you can learn from a situation may help.

Trying to keep your temper may be a challenge.  There are many types of triggers that can be created from a boss / employee dynamic.

Look at how other people communicate with this person?  If you are the one with the issue, you know that you can grow from this.

Consider that all difficult relationships are opportunities for growth.  This doesn’t mean you need to stay in an abusive situation.  Just that when you walk away you can learn from what you experienced.

What to say to a difficult boss

Actually, it’s often what you don’t say.

Silence is powerful and so is observation.  If you feel strong emotions that are out of balance with a situation, the best thing to do is pause.

As soon as it’s viably possible, observe the feeling that has risen in you and describe it.  It may be helpful to write down all of the emotions that you can describe at this point.

Now consider if these feelings link to anything in your earlier life, or feel deeper?  A trigger could point to PTSD from this life.  This doesn’t mean it’s not a karmic link, it simply gives you an indication of what you can learn.

In respect of the difficult boss, try not to show a response to any negative behaviour.  Find an outlet, so that you don’t stay in a negative mindset. Disconnect from any energy play.

Observing the other person will be illuminating.  If you can do so objectively, you’ll notice their triggers and vulnerabilities.

Energy play is ALWAYS two ways.

If you step away from negativity and recognise it as bad behaviour from another, then you can disengage.  If you are not responding, or creating the uncomfortable discourse, you can be sure it will cease.

Understanding Your Boss by Zodiac Sign

How to release a past life contract

One of the best skills you can develop to deal with complex relationships, is to learn not to react.  At times when we are triggered it’s very easy to respond emotionally or defensively.  All this does however, is add more energy to the issues.

In order to heal old karmic energy we need to learn to step away when we feel vulnerable.  It may be that we need time to cry, express anger or talk about our feelings.  Journaling can help, as can opening up to somebody close, or a therapist.

Remember, wherever you focus your thoughts, energy and attention, you create more of the same.  Manifestation is based upon the universal law that what we believe will be, will come to be.

Manifestation does take a lot of focus and the integration of thought, word and deed.  You don’t need to worry that all your thoughts will manifest.  We’d live in chaos if that was the case.  Manifestation is the result of a *LOT* of focal energy building into a reality.

In order to heal a soul contract, it will likely take a lot of energy.  However, you can be sure if you step away from ‘reacting’ or being ‘defensive’ you’ll start the healing process.

Energy play can only occur when both or all parties contribute energy.  If you remove your energy and reactions from a situation, then it cannot help but begin to heal.

Be kind, be compassionate to others, and more importantly, to yourself.

Love is always the answer!
