On November 8th, 2025, Uranus leaves Gemini and reenters Taurus.
Uranus’ brief stay in Gemini has been nothing short of fascinating, to say the least.
It has already given us a taste of what to expect from this ingress – one that is guaranteed to make headlines throughout its stay from 2026 to 2033.
But until then, Uranus returns to Taurus to tie up loose ends and close one particular chapter of our lives for good.
This return to Taurus, after the dizzying buzz and aerial thrill of Uranus in Gemini, can feel like a crash back to Earth.
It’s as if we’ve just flown too close too soon – exhilarated by new ideas, movement, and possibilities – only to find gravity pulling us down again.
Was what just happened even real?
But we need the landing. We need to come back to Earth – to rebuild our wings with stronger materials and deeper grounding, so that when Uranus moves into Gemini for good, our flight can last.
By the time Uranus finishes its journey through Taurus, we will have integrated its lessons and are ready for the next chapter.
Uranus And The Outer Planets – The Higher Perspective
We say that Uranus brings freedom and liberation – and that’s because outer planets like Uranus approach things from a higher, more uncompromising perspective.
They awaken something within us that would not be accessible otherwise. We need Uranus transits to elevate our consciousness, to shake us out of comfort and into authenticity.
Astrologers always pay special attention to the “Big 3” – not the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant, but Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto – to understand where the world is heading, what themes are emerging, and what collective transformations are underway.
What’s very interesting is that in the coming years, these 3 outer planets – Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto – will all aspect each other, forming a supportive configuration known as a “Minor Triangle.”
When all 3 agree to work together, the world changes slowly but surely, from behind the scenes, at a source-code, invisible level.
Uranus, Neptune And Pluto And The Psyche
The same forces that shape the collective also work subtly within us. We all have Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto somewhere in our natal charts.
In the natal chart, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are less about our personality – the recognizable, everyday structures of the psyche – and more about the unconscious forces that drive evolution from within.
They are the ‘troublemakers’.
If you go to an astrologer, chances are 99%+ of the time – it’s because an outer planet is at work. We don’t go to astrologers to help us understand our Sun-Mars sextile, nor to find intelligence about our Mercury transits.
We go because we want to understand our Sun-Pluto aspects. Or because we want to make sense of our Uranus opposition, the so-called midlife crisis transit.
In our Addiction framework, we look at Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto as archetypal pathways that reveal the deeper workings of the psyche – the ways in which we are called to grow, evolve, and awaken.
This process can manifest through struggle – an initial resistance when the psyche is asked to expand but doesn’t yet feel ready.
And in these moments, we have a choice:
We can take the long, winding road of integration and awareness, or we can take the shortcut.
The shortcut – what we call addiction – is a symptom of something much deeper: the soul’s longing for transcendence, pressed into form before it’s fully understood.
And the quality of our response gives us very important clues about where we are in our own process of growth – and how ready the psyche is to meet the call for transcendence.
Uranus – The upper Path To Transcendence
Uranus, in particular, represents the so-called “upper path” to transcendence.
At its core, the Uranian path is the pull to ascend – to touch the sky, to become god-like, or to merge with spirit.
It’s driven by the promise of freedom, by the dream of breaking through human limitations.
Anything from serious stimulant use, to more everyday “highs” such as social media engagement, gaming, constant scrolling, or the lure of sugar – anything that lifts us out of our ordinary state – all follow the Uranian path.
The Icarus Complex
One of the central myths that captures the essence of the Uranian, “upper path” is the myth of Icarus.
Icarus and his father Daedalus, a master craftsman, were imprisoned in the labyrinth – a metaphor for Saturnian limitation, structure, and confinement. The walls represent the rules and boundaries that keep human life contained.
Drawn by the Uranian call to freedom, Daedalus invents a way to escape: he creates wings from feathers and wax – a kind of technology of transcendence, a tool that allows him and Icarus to rise above the labyrinth, to move beyond their earthly constraints.
All set and ready, the 2 take flight.
But Icarus, overwhelmed by exhilaration, ignores his father’s warnings and soars too close to the Sun.
Enchanted by the thrill of flight, he climbs higher and higher – until the wax melts, his feathers scatter, and he plunges into the sea.
The Uranian call – the pull to go “higher” – is irresistible. It’s the same impulse that makes us want to have everything now, to feel limitless, to be on top of the world.
This myth speaks to the price of unrestrained upward striving – the addiction to more, to stimulation, to heights that cannot be sustained.
There’s even a psychological term, the “Icarus Complex,” describing those whose spiritual ambition or upward longing exceeds their natural limits – people who fly too high too fast, driven by visions of transcendence but unprepared for the consequences.
Icarus’ story warns us that while the desire to ascend will always be part of the human condition – as long as Uranus continues to orbit – pushing too far, too soon, can burn us and send us crashing back to earth.
It’s also a metaphor for addiction, specifically addictions rooted in the Uranian impulse to rise, to feel more, to touch the sky – and what happens when we give in to the temptation of the shortcut to “high.”
But it’s also a gift in disguise. When we understand where this drive comes from – what it really is – we can learn to channel it constructively, beginning with the discipline of Saturn, Uranus’ preceding planet and natural counterbalance.
We can touch the sky – we can transcend our limitations – but only when we build a strong enough container to hold that energy.
Understanding our “upper” Uranian addictive tendencies and behaviors helps us see what we’re truly wired for, and what that longing means for our growth and life purpose.
Addiction And Transform Your Life With Astrology
In the Addiction course, we explore this Uranian “upper path” to addiction and transcendence in depth during the first module.
The other 2 modules are devoted to the remaining archetypal paths – Pluto’s “downward” path and Neptune’s “outer” path.
Together, these explorations help us uncover our deeper drives and the psyche’s ongoing attempts to find transcendence through the three archetypal gateways of Uranus, Pluto, and Neptune.
