Kiefer Sutherland best known as Jack Bauer in the long running TV series 24, and Flatliners, Stand by Me and Designated Survivor, has his fourth album out of mostly self-penned country songs and has just finished a UK and European tour.
His efforts have been better reviewed than those of other Hollywood stars – Russell Crowe, Johnny Depp, Kevin Bacon, Keanu Reeves and Damian Lewis – who diverted down a musical track late in their careers.
He has always been a fascination given his father was the talented Donald Sutherland, his maternal grandfather was the Canadian politician who introduced universal health care, and his bad boy start in the business with a drink and anger control problems. His father split from the family when he was 3 after an affair with Jane Fonda and had three marriages in all. Kiefer followed in his footsteps with liaisons with Julia Roberts, Bo Derek amongst others and two marriages. A detour from filming in the late 1990s saw him branch out as a rancher, competitive lassoer and championship rodeo rider.
Born 21 December 1966 9am London England, he does have a tumultuous and troubled chart with a 12th house Sun in final degree Sagittarius square Saturn and Chiron in Pisces opposition Uranus Pluto in Virgo in his 8th. He will be creative with a 12th house Sun and filmic Neptune in his 10th though given to depression with Sun square Saturn and Saturn opposition Pluto. His Mars in Libra at first glance seems less than amped up but it opposes his Aries Moon and squares Venus Ascendant in Capricorn. Moon Mars is usually advised to avoid alcohol since it tends to trigger anger. His Sun is also square his acutely frustrated Mars/Pluto midpoint which might also hint at a tendency to lash out.
His father Donald Sutherland, 17 July 1936 11.30am St John, NB, Canada, also had Mars in Libra in his case square a 10th house Cancer Sun and Pluto, so ambitious, creative and a force to be reckoned with. He had a Water Grand Trine of Saturn in Pisces (like Kiefer) trine Jupiter in Scorpio trine Mercury in Cancer adding to his artistic talents; with his Jupiter opposition an 8th house Uranus, which in turn was trine a 12th house Venus Neptune in Virgo.
There were quite a few similarities in their charts, not the least of which was the wayward 8th house Uranus; and the hard driving Mars aspects.
