Uranus, Neptune, Pluto – a heady brew

Uranus, Neptune, Pluto – a heady brew

Amidst the astro-excitement of the revitalising effect of the celestial transition into Air Fire signs as opposed to the recent downbeat Water Earth, what has been overlooked is the effect of Neptune, Uranus and Pluto sitting on, or in aspect to, the midpoints of the two others.

At present Neptune is conjunct the Uranus/Pluto midpoint which goes a long way to explaining the present mood of ‘uncertainty, insecurity, unfulfilled wishes, fatigue, neurosis’ (Ebertin). There is an upside with increased sympathy, a deeper understanding of human nature, and a leaning towards supernatural interests. Since it will be around on and off until 2028 it will be worth getting to know how to maximise its plus points and minimise its less helpful vibes.

Pluto is also square the Uranus/Neptune midpoint this July and through 2027 as well. It can also lead to ‘peculiar psychic states’, a degree of gloom and lack of stamina but also inspiration and spiritual understanding, as well as a leaning towards mysticism.

The other midpoint highlighted is tr Uranus square the Neptune/Pluto midpoint also around for two or three years. It can lead to heightened nervous sensitivity, supernatural experiences, gloom, peculiar states of soul experience, spiritual interests.

Although Pluto, Neptune, Uranus are in ‘soft’ aspects now and in coming years they will still carry the undertones of their more robust outcomes.

Uranus Pluto – revolutions and rebellions, pulling down old, outdated structures, can be chaotic.

Uranus Neptune at best coincides with ‘golden ages’ of social progress, medical breakthroughs, the birth of new religions or heresies and, most notably, inspired spiritual art. It is also highly strung, can be fanatical and resistant to hard evidence.

Neptune Pluto – megalomaniacs, scandals, rise and fall of great powers, erotic art, interest in the supernatural. Scientific progress verges on the intangible, starting with alchemy (a mix of chemistry and mysticism); later the telephone was invented, electricity and radio waves were mastered, X-rays were in use, airships were being launched, and sound and picture recording were about to revolutionize leisure activities.

All of the above are manifestations of the conjunctions which will have a stronger effect. It will be hints rather than a clarion call, but the mood will reflect the same challenges at a lower octave.

Neptune in Pisces may have moved on so there may be less reality-twisting than in the past decade plus, or at least in quite the same way. But Neptune will still make its presence felt with increased sensitivity and neurosis.

I am not psychic but I do have porous psychological boundaries (many planets in the 12th) so pick up the mood ‘out there’ without realising. An early transpersonal therapist was very helpful in pointing out to me when my worries were me-related and when they were a reaction to – what I suppose a Jungian would describe as the collective unconscious bubbling away.

It is worth remembering when feelings of dread or confusion swirl that it may not be personal.  And the dreaded disaster may never happen anyway, even if the collective are convinced about impending doom. Also good to remember therapist Donald Winnicott’s notion which was –  that of which we most fear has already happened. It is not coming, it has been – and we survived it.
