You know me: I love Netflix. Every season, I offer you an esoteric selection of films and series, and just like me, you love it. So, a few days ago, when I started working on the winter 2024-2025 selection, I was shocked! Yes, I’m not exaggerating—genuinely shocked! Me, who usually talks to you about esotericism, fortune-telling, and mystery, had never touched on the hottest topic on Netflix: UFOs! Indeed, in the “upcoming” section, I noticed a vast array of films, series, and documentaries on the subject… So, I’ve decided that today, I’m opening the Netflix UFO Portal for you! The lineup: UFOs, aliens, space, reality, conspiracy, fiction, and much more!
Netflix and UFOs: Movies
The Man Who Loved UFOs (October 2024)
After receiving a tempting but questionable invitation, fearless entertainment journalist José de Zer, along with his trusty cameraman Chango, heads to a small town in the province of Córdoba to report on a mysterious circle that appeared in some farmland in the hills. What follows is the invention of the most famous alien sightings in Argentine television history.
Rim of the World (2019)
When an alien invasion interrupts their summer camp, four misfit teens band together to try to save the world through epic and formative adventures. This one’s really more of a teen or even kids’ movie, but sometimes it’s just what we need!
The Predator (2018)
For the fourth film in the franchise, Shane Black introduces new forms to his predator. Here’s the scoop: when a predator ship crashes on Earth, a tracker, a secret government agency, a biologist, and a group of former soldiers try to find it. Despite mixed success upon release, this movie really appeals to me! I love getting scared, especially by inhuman beings!
Paul (2011)
For 60 years, Paul, an alien, has lived on Earth, collaborating with the U.S. government. He hides from view in an ultra-secret military base… Paul is responsible for everything we’ve imagined about aliens, from merchandising to the storylines of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., or The X-Files. Alas for him, now that the U.S. government has extracted all useful information about extraterrestrial life, they decide to get rid of him. Paul escapes and runs into two sci-fi geeks touring the U.S. in an RV. Paul convinces them to take him with them and help him leave Earth. But their task becomes even more challenging when they’re pursued by a relentless cop, assisted by two bumbling FBI agents…
Netflix and UFOs: Series
The Manhattan Alien Abduction (October 2024)
This is the true story behind one of the biggest mysteries in ufology, whose contradictions still baffle social networks and online forums. Few people know that a filmmaker was at the heart of the Manhattan abduction and filmed everything. Thanks to hundreds of hours of never-before-seen footage, we now have access to the real X-Files captured on camera.
Encounters (2023-)
Against a backdrop of testimonies and interviews with experts, this documentary series explores numerous UFO sightings over the last 50 years and reveals new evidence. Each cinematic and deeply-researched episode tells a single story: strange lights in the sky over small-town Texas; submersible space crafts haunting a coastal Welsh village; an alien encounter in a schoolyard in Zimbabwe; non-human intelligence reportedly interfering with a nuclear power plant in Japan.
The Three-Body Problem (2024-)
A British government agent teams up with a group of former Oxford students to investigate a mysterious wave of suicides among the scientific community. Their investigations lead them to a virtual reality game based on an advanced physics problem and to a brilliant Chinese scientist who was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution. While this doesn’t exactly feature UFOs, we’re close… I’ll let you watch the series to understand!
Fairy Realms: the Enchanted Worlds Beyond Our Own
Netflix and UFOs: Documentaries
Top Secret UFO Projects: Declassified (2021)
While alleged encounters with extraterrestrials have long been refuted, for many, the existence of UFOs isn’t a possibility but a certainty. Across six episodes, discover whether or not you believe in aliens. Reconstructions, myths, theories, archival footage—everything will help you understand believers and form your own opinion on the matter.
Inetisation Alien (2024)
In this captivating documentary series, renowned journalist George Knapp travels the world in search of new evidence about UFOs and their presence on our planet.
Alien Worlds (2020)
What would life look like on another planet? That’s the question of Alien Worlds, a visual UFO that just landed on Netflix. In four episodes, the British mini-series oscillates between documentary and science fiction, sketching out a new world. Each part explores the celestial flora and fauna of a purely fictional planet through CGI that seems straight out of Avatar. In detailed and colorful animation, a world unfolds. Lush vegetation, hostile weather conditions, and, above all, a myriad of strange extraterrestrial beings far removed from the cliché of little green men.
Comedy film, documentary, conspiracy, quasi-animalistic documentaries, fictional battles… UFOs have always intrigued humans, who are both fearful and fascinated by the topic. On Netflix, you’ll discover all the different ways to think about UFOs and extraterrestrials.
